Metro Detroit Disc Golf League

2010 Season

Begins April 14, 2010

MDDGL will post additional information on the Disc Golf  Scene website.

Please visit:    http://www.discgolfscene.com/clubs/METRO_DETROIT_DISC_GOLF_LEAGUE

The past two years we have tried various formats of play to see where the interest was. It was evident that two types of players were showing up, those that wanted to play for prize money and those that just wanted to have a casual competitive night playing disc golf. This year there will be two separate divisions of play. Kurt Maty will be running the Best Shot Doubles Division and Victor Lenivov will be running the Casual but competitive play division. We are here to provide a place for the areas disc golf players to enjoy competition against their fellow disc golfers.

With the success of the initial Glowie Challenge Doubles, Kurt will hold a Spring version prior to the MDDGL's season start. The start date is dependent upon the winter weather but we hope to have it running in March if not sooner. We will post the first night of play in this box. Check back in January or early February for further updates.

A Request for former and current players, we would like to put together a History page for the league. Any stories, pictures, league standing sheets, etc. that you can provide would be deeply appreciated. Even just telling us what years that you played in the league would be of value.

If you have any questions or comments, please use the contact form below.

Kurt Maty will be running the Random Draw Best Shot Doubles Division. There will be a $5 entry fee for Best Shot with an optional $1 for Ace Pool and an optional $1 for CTP on hole 1.

Payouts to the winners will be determined by the number of teams playing that night according to the following schedule. (click link)

Victor Lenivov will be running the Casual Play Division.I have thought long and hard on how to structure this division.I have decided to run this division along the lines of the informal racquetball ladder. The challenge will be to either maintain your top ladder position or to work your way up. [Ladder Rules].

In addition to the ladder challenge matches, we will encourage the players to add an additional challenge by playing one of the various disc golf out there: Bingo-Bango, Disc Poker, etc. We will try and place game players on the same card. A suggested casual wager is $1 per man.

Bingo Bango is a very simple game. On each hole, two points can be won. One point for CTP and one point for the longest putt made. The person winning the most points wins the pot.

Disc Poker. The winner is determined by the best 5 card poker hand. How cards are earned by the players varies depending on the players level. Generally a birdie gets you a card. Some play that if no one birdies, everyone that makes par gets a card.

I am accepting input on additional games that could be played (use contact form below).
